Original artwork description:

‘Morning Tide’ is a mixed media collage/assemblage presented in a glazed, soft wood box frame. The image is 39cm x 39cm, with the framed size at 45cm x 45cm. The box depth is 3.5cm. This piece is part of a series of assemblages in response to coastal environments. It represents observations from a bright, early morning walk along an untamed coastal path where tides have left their mark on the marshes and sand dunes.
The journeys I make are recorded through photography and the selection and collection of natural detritus that reflects the qualities of the landscape. ‘Morning Tide’ combines photographs, lightly textured papers, tissue paper and canvas fabric painted and scraped with acrylic paint. Found objects, which include pressed coastal wild flowers, driftwood, a small piece of fishing net and a small glass bottle containing broken shell, have been arranged across the collaged and painted surface.

Materials used:

Textured papers, canvas fabric, acrylic paint, photographs, found objects
