Painting the sunrise is a sort of meditation, my favourite kind if you will. The early morning calm with only the birds for company is something that I have come to love.
A couple of months ago, I took on a project of doing a series of sunrises. Pretty much the same view, paint the sunrise in front of my house every day. I did about 25 sunrises and learnt much. It forced me to work quickly and thoughtfully, as the colours in front of me changed faster than I could paint them. It was fun!
This landscape is painted in a very loose impressionistic style with bold and vibrant brushwork. The painting is energetic and will draw the viewer in.
I have captured the colours in the painting as accurate as I could, but I always say they are way better in person.
