Somewhat unusually for me, this is a version of my original line and wash watercolour sketch of Moreston Quay at low tide, this time made in water based oil paints. I've tried to bring a warmer tone to the salt marsh grass and to the mud in the creek. The colours seem to change with the seasons and the light bringing interest and variety to the scene.
The image contrasts the old and the new; The salt marsh and creek have hardly changed over the years and parts of the jetty might appear neglected. The larger traditional Norfolk fishing boats sit near the 3 more modern dinghies. (Please note that the painting goes to the edge of the painting board and the actual size is 30.3 x 25.3cm)
Windsor & Newton Artisan oil paint; Cerulean, Titanium White, Paynes Grey, Cadmium Yellow, Yellow Ochre, Alizarin Crimson
