Original artwork description:

I was inspired to star this series of paintings when I become aware of the bizarre patterns that appear and instantly disappear on the surface of relatively calm water. They are caused by the interplay of light, shade, wind and nearby objects( boats, rocks, harbour walls etc) to name but a few.

The state of the tide is also relevant. Choppy water reminiscent of globs of green glass can change into silvery liquid metal when the tide turns.
I prefer paintings on a hard surface, rather than canvas and usually make the wood panels myself to my own specifications . Three coats of acrylic gesso are applied before the oil painting commences.

Materials used:

Oil
