A small (16 x 16 inch) original oil painting on linen canvas. The painting style is traditional, realistic and with a touch of impressionistic brush work.
The painting depicts the stretch of the River Thames between London Bridge and Tower Bridge, known as the Upper Pool as it was at the end of the 19th century. The newly completed Tower Bridge has opened to allow passage into the Upper Pool for a sailing ship towed by a tug. This has taken place in the moonlight to catch the advantage of the tide. The moonlight is reflected in the river and throws an incredible amount of light onto everything.
Available framed or unframed (without the frame there would be a slight price reduction).
