Moonlight over the Isle of Purbeck
Dreamy blues and lilac sky,
The moon illuminating Hartland moor,
The flowing ridge all muted and dark,
A mesmerising scene in this beautiful nature reserve,
A place I feel at home.

Original impressionist watercolour painting on extra rough textured watercolour paper bockingford 425 gsm 200 lb.
Lots of back washes wet on wet for the sky and then leaving the light using my filbert for the moon. Then placing careful sweeping around the moon with lilac shades and cobalt blue. The first wash of colour was yellow ochre. Where the fluffy clouds are above the Purbeck ridge I used my filbert brush to rub and lift off the colour in a clockwise motion. I pressed, dragged and dabbed the paint on as the paper become drier for the detail using my Japanese mop squirrel hair brush.
