This painting is born of my fascination with what you see by a full moon on a really clear night and just how much light there is away from any artificial light. This is a picture of the sea by moonlight. The moon is shining through the thin part of the breaking waves at the top turning them green. The foam on top of the water from the previous breaker, which is now rolling back towards the sea, casts a shadow onto the moonlit sand underneath. The sea reflects the bright low silver moon. We can even see the reflection of the large rock in the rock pool surrounding it. On the headland the moon lights the breaking wave making it stand out in front of the almost black rock in shadow behind it.
