In between my underwater paintings I really love to paint the sea. I love the arch of the crashing wave in this one, and the foaminess of the water, the wintery-ness of the sea. I paint these the same way as my swimming paintings by building up layers to create detph and the varying colours of the water. The circular canvas gives a pleasingly porthole view.
