My favorite drive in Carmel-by-the-Sea is the Scenic Rd, lined with Monterey Cypress trees and following the coastline along Carmel Beach.
"Sculpted by fierce winds, their twisted trunks and angled flattened tops make each one an original. Their asymmetry and tenacity have intrigued botanists, captivated residents and visitors, and inspired well-known artists and writers", describes cypress trees Cynthia Wagner Weick in Carmel Magazine.
These trees have been a never-ending inspiration for my paintings of the area. This is one of the impressions of a beautiful sunny day in Carmel.
Materials:
Oil on oil-primed Claessens Belgian linen, mounted on the archival museum quality Gatorfoam panel. Painting surface is protected with a coat of Gamvar varnish.
