In 2018 I was fortunate to be able to take part in a workshop at Cardiff University tutored by Jerry McLaughlin, an American artist working in oils and cold wax medium. He and his collaborator Rebecca Crowell have written a book all about the techniques related to the medium. I had bought this book in advance and had it shipped over from California as I wanted some knowledge of the how and what. Long story short, this is one of the pieces I started on during the workshop. The image that I show you now is one that emerged after I had worked on it in my studio following the workshop. To me it says calm, peace - a quiet moment. The colours are fairly monochromatic, with the background a soft celadon, very textured up close. The shape is enigmatic, I don't know what it represents, you must make up your own mind on that.
