Original artwork description:

An attempt to make a still life out of modern ingredients - a plastic thermos and tennis balls in place of the usual ceramic jugs and apples. The geometry is important - the canvas is square and the tennis balls are aligned according to a geometrical pattern, visible/undestandable only from above - (a homage to Piero Della Francesco's "Flagellation"). Piero believed that the hidden laws of geometry underlying everything in the world were proof of God's design, and we, as flawed and and limited beings, could only understand a part, seen from our side-on perspective. Although I am not conventionally religious, I admire this idea.

Materials used:

Home made oil paint on linen canvas, egg & oil emulsion primer, damar varnish
