Bear Mode No.5 is an original abstract nature-inspired painting by contemporary artist Sara Richardson. The Bear Mode painting series is a tribute to the different and sometimes complicated stages of life. This painting was recently chosen to be in a juried exhibition located in Richmond.

This painting in person is playful and has contrasting visual / surface elements of warm gold metallic with leaves created from ivory black oil paint. The additional petals and leaves are made with a semi-matte acrylic paint. I love the idea of 'patch-working' different pieces together, mimicking patent leather with paint, the shine of metallics and weaving vivid shapes within the flurry of muted colors.
