Original artwork description:

One of my "Pop Art" series of paintings. Oil on panel. Actual painting measures 32x24" Frame is a about an inch bigger all round. Painted in comic book style, in keeping with the genre. Comes framed as shown but can very easily be reframed if you wish.
The painting is a tribute to the Air Transport Auxiliary of WWII. Their job was to ferry thousands of aeroplanes from the factories in the midlands down to the front line air bases in the south. Although not involved in actual combat, there were quite a few casualties from accidents and mechanical failure. The ferry pilot wears a uniform of the period and ATA insignia. Her Girls Venture Corps cap badge is not 100% militarily accurate for the point in her career depicted, but is a reference to the wartime cadet unit that many women with aspirations to fly joined before graduating to the ATA.

Materials used:

oil paint on MDF panel
