Mixed tape vol 4 - Retro series 79' L.A. ROCK
Big riffs, big drums, big hair!!!! In 1979 the Los Angeles music scene was lit on fire by one band that would go on to shame the next decade. Van Halen. This retro cassette pays homage to that scene and the visionary guitarist who inspired a generation. No one had seen or heard anything like Eddie Van Halen. He was a game changer.
If you look closely you will see this painting has a real 1971 American quarter double sided taped to it as a part of the work. This is the same coin Eddie screwed into his guitar. I've also added a few bike reflectors on the back, which Eddie had on the back of his guitar.
You want to make a statement, this is Rock n Roll personified.
This new series began a while ago with a painting of an original Polaroid camera. The 80's may now be retro, but for some of us, it was simply called childhood. Polaroids, Walkmans, Vinyl, VHS and cassette tapes.
Definitely a trip down memory lane. If you're old enough to remember sitting by the radio waiting for your favourite songs. Or maybe you borrowed someone's album for a sneaky copy.
Mixed tape is another in the realist style. Painted in several layers over the course of several days. It is eye catching and really pops! I wanted to give the work a semi abstract background with texture in some areas to give a slightly aged effect.
Simple. Elegant. Unique. Fresh. Inspired.
This is large so if your looking to make a bold statement this will get the conversation started.
Shipping charges cover my costs of properly packaging the artwork, materials used, tracking, insurance is all covered. In the event that freight charges are less than paid, i will arrange a reimbursement, all duty fees or addition taxes are the responsibility of the buyer.
Acrylic background, with Oil paint on sealed board, UV varnish. Ready to hang.
