Over the past year I have found myself returning time and again to painting trees. Perhaps it is the sense of calm that I get from spending time in the woods. Alternatively it may just be that they have still been available whilst everything else in life has been closed.
I painted this during a patch of gloomy wintry weather when the only solution is to embrace the mystery of weather. It may not look colourful at first glance but there are in fact many blues, pinks and oranges within the greys.
It is framed in a bespoke textured grey frame. There is some gold leaf beading to bring out the oranges in the foreground leaves and a paler slip to echo the paler tones of the far distance.
