This piece was painted “en plein air“ during sunset. It was painted more loosely and with impasto as I tried to quickly capture the disappearing scene. It was painted “en plein air” from our hotel balcony in Ida Saou looking across the lake towards Swaysur, but focused on just the area of the setting sun. It was a bright misty sunset and the sun would appear and disappear into the mist as it was setting, occasionally revealing its full shape.
This series of Acrylic paintings was done a long time ago during a trip to the very beautiful Sun Moon Lake in Nantou, Taiwan. My wife and I love this place and visit as often as possible. These paintings were all done “en plein air” from the balcony of our hotel room. At the time I was interested in leaving areas of the base materials I was working on visible as I was experimenting with the visual effect of the paper being part of the image or even framing it in a way.
A note to International Buyers:
Shipping rates have increased in price all around the world due to Covid and other complications. Due to this I have had to increase the the cost of shipping my artworks in line with the Delivery Companies. I will always strive to find the cheapest possible option for the customer (usually my local POST OFFICE EMS Recorded Delivery, but unfortunately they don’t deliver to every country at the moment) If the amount of shipping charged at purchase is less than the shipping company charges then I will refund the difference to the customer. This refund will be done after the picture has arrived safely and has been accepted.
Any import duties, taxes and charges that may be payable are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges, if applicable, will be the responsibility of the buyer. Please message me to check if this might affect your purchase.
