Painted after an early morning foray into the bluebell woods, where the mist was still sitting low on the ground.
I had a long period in 2021 investigating the kind of deer we have in the Chiltern hills and woods.
I tried to imagine them in the environment and how they live their lives.
I would think that early morning in spring and summer is a quiet period with not too many people about where they
can move through the landscape with less interference.
This painting therefore contains a greater imaginative element than is usual for me.
But I do believe that all paintings contain both input from the world and input from the artist.
