Artwork description:

Two mistle thrushes sing out in a still and tranquil landscape. This etching and aquatint is inspired by Thomas Hardy's poem 'The Darkling Thrush' and is the companion print of 'Swallows Over the Abbey'. Both prints are reflective and concern the triumph of hope over gloom. Hope is encapsulated in the joyous song of the birds in another otherwise silent scene.

This print is an etching and aquatint drawn on a copper plate. It is printed on Somerset Velvet, an off-white heavyweight 300 gsm handmade paper from St Cuthbert's Mill in Somerset. The print is in a limited edition of 75 and is signed and numbered by the artist. The image size is 10 x 15 cm on a paper size is 20 x 25 cm.
