Title : Mist on Loch Carron
In Scotland, late in the evening, it never gets truly dark. The sun sets and the colours intensify as the mist settles over the loch. Taken at a little village pier when the colours of the water and the sky were like a watercolour painting. The waves lapped softly on the shore beneath my feet and it felt as if the world was softly falling asleep.
A single image in camera taken over the course of a few seconds to catch the mood of soft drifting clouds, very little processing.
A choice of white on the sides or gallery wrapped (image continues round the sides), let me know when ordering which you prefer.
About My Work
I am passionate about creating images of the landscape around Skye and the Outer Hebridean islands. The land, the people and the history are woven together to create a place of endless mystery.
I love working with luxury paper and canvas materials that hold their colours for a lifetime. For these special large prints of my work I use dreamy, light textured Canson Canvas and the highest quality inks. I do all my own printing, having spent years learning this skill I prefer to maintain control of the colour representation at all stages to ensure you get a truly handmade image.
About My Materials
People often say that my images look like paintings because of the richness of the colours, the depth of the black and the texture of the materials I use. Canson are one of the oldest paper manufacturers in the world, they have been making paper for over 450 years in France. Founded in 1557 and printers to Louis XVI, their paper was used by Voltaire and Napoleon and the Montgolfier brothers used Canson paper to make the first hot air balloon. Canson paper was used by Picasso, Ingres, Chagal, Miro and many other artists. They have been making paper and canvas for photography since this art began over 150 years ago. Canson are Eco Friendly - they purchase paper pulp only from forests managed in a sustainable way which also makes them pretty special.
Other Sizes
This print is available in other sizes on canvas or paper. I am happy to take custom orders, just drop me a line.
A Note on Canvases
Canvases are unframed and unmounted, they need to be stretched or framed once you get them. Once ready, they are carefully wrapped in acid free tissue then shipped in a sturdy art tube to ensure safe delivery. All taxes and duties to be paid by the receiver.
