"I conceived of the idea after seeing Wizard of Oz on television that the Scarecrows only regret about having a brain would be to miss Dorothy after she returns to Cansas". This memory of her proves hard for the scarecrow to live with as before he had no memories and life seemed simpler. "As you get older memories and life experiences pile up and life seems heavier. I look back on the simplicity of being young and I miss it. This painting represents that"
