MIRACULOUS SUNSET IN FLORENCE ITALY is an abstract cityscape textural impressionist impasto palette knife oil painting on 3D canvas, sizes 30x30x5 cm ( 12x12x2 inches ). The painting continues on the deep edges of the 3D canvas and highlights the composition in a special way by creating a 3D effect.
This original oil painting is part of my ongoing series ABSTRACT CITYSCAPES.
Florence view seen from Piazzale Michelangelo inspired me to paint this abstract cityscape. Everywhere I wandered, always I seek for panoramic views of the cities in which I am able to observe what I call the ABSTRACT CITY PATTERNS. The rhythm of the rooftops seen from the distance fascinates me. In my personal artistic vision the architectonic details create practically an aesthetic abstract pattern, that urges to be translated in differently morphed palette knife strokes and marks interacting with each other in various ways and generating the painterly quality of the impasto textures that I love so much.
Florence Cathedral, formally the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore, in English "Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Flower"), is the cathedral of Florence, Italy (Italian: Duomo di Firenze). It was begun in 1296 in the Gothic style to a design of Arnolfo di Cambio and was structurally completed by 1436, with the dome engineered by Filippo Brunelleschi.
Vibrant colors and dynamic swirls depict the lively Firenze cityscape with the prominent domed cathedral rising above the surrounding buildings. The sky is rendered in tumultuous shades of orange, yellow and blue.
