Original artwork description:

It’s right and poetic, that I should finish this painting of Menton, on the day I was meant to be coming back to the US from there. But as many of you know, I rushed back after only being in my beloved Menton for a few weeks, when I was alerted by family members that I’d best get back before the US border was closed. The colors and beauty of Menton always inspire me, and particularly the wonderful character of the “Vieux Ville”; Menton’s Old Town. This is a scene from Old Town where narrow, steep, winding streets are the perfect place to get lost for awhile. This piece was done from a combination of two particular spots I photographed one quiet afternoon I climbed up through Old Town’s maze, just before France went into lockdown. What a long time ago that feels like, and how I ache to be. Back in my adopted town. The title of this piece stems from the name I am called by my three Grandchildren; “Mimi”. The edges of the canvas are painted so this picture can be hung unframed, if preferred.
