I met Mim in 2022 in Porar Char. Porar Char is a remote island in Northern Bangladesh that is constantly flooded and life is tough for all who live there as their lives are continuously disrupted. Despite this uncertainty the children of the island were incredibly happy and none more so than Mim who was always laughing and smiling. I wanted to create a painting that celebrated this purity of joy and happiness so I created a painting where the beautiful and colourful pattern of her coat extends all around her in celebration of this joy.
