I love observing people and I sketch them from life at every chance I get. Some of these sketches turn into paintings. This painting is based on a sketch that I did this summer, this young woman was busy with her mobile phone, as everyone else from that generation. I sketched her but made a mental note to make a painting too, since the light was irresistible.

There is something about the evening summer light and the gorgeous shadows that it gives. This is precisely the kind of everyday slice of life image that I love to paint - just random people going about doing their things.

This painting is done on stretched canvas with the highest quality oil paints. The bold brush strokes give in an impasto effect. The sides of the canvas are painted and it can be displayed without a frame.
