I wanted to show the passion and expression of Miles Davis playing the trumpet. I used an initial covering of gesso to accentuate areas such as the veins on his temple. The background was equally important, as I wanted the music to appear to be emanating from and surrounding Miles.

Sponges, gesso and paintbrushes.
