This painting forms part of an ongoing series based on photos made using a magnifying device on my mobile phone. I took these photos in the spring and early summer of 2021 as I went for slow walks as part of my recuperation from major surgery. It was fascinating to be able to zoom in on the micro level world all around me that would normally evade one’s gaze. Their growth from the midsts of winter filled me with hope.
The paintings, made when I was able to get back in the studio for long enough to make them, are of cherry blossom, buckthorn, hawthorn, plum blossom, lichen and, as summer approached, poppies and other flowers too numerous to list.
The piece is painted using exceptional quality Old Holland and Winsor and Newton Artists' series oil paints and mediums with the highest ratings of permanence and light-fastness. The painting is on a fine grain fully-archival canvas panel 3 mm thick, measuring 18cm by 24 cm.
The painting will be packaged following best-practice guidelines and despatched by signed for and fully tracked courier. It is signed on the reverse and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
