𝗙𝗥𝗔𝗠𝗘𝗗 & 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗬 𝗧𝗢 𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗚

“Syksy,” released in late 2021, is my third abstract series. Captured mainly in Finnish Lapland, Syksy—meaning "autumn" in Finnish—celebrates the ephemeral beauty of the season, from the fiery hues of the “ruska” to the silent, magnetic dance of the auroras.

METSÄ (STUDIO 6) stands as a key expression within this body of work. Created entirely en plein air using intentional camera movement, the image abstracts a boreal forest into a rhythmic composition of vertical forms and soft textures. The trees lose their solidity, becoming fluid streaks of earthy browns, cool greys, deep blues, and hints of crimson.
The lower half dissolves into a golden mist, suggestive of withered grasses and fading sunlight. A subtle interplay of shadow and glow infuses the image with motion, as if the forest itself were breathing.
This work blurs the line between photography and painting, drawing from impressionist and minimalist sensibilities while evoking a quiet sense of introspection. It is less about the literal landscape and more about the emotional trace it leaves—the way autumn feels rather than how it looks.
For me, “Metsä (Studio 6)” is not just an image—it is an inner landscape, a visual poem that speaks of memory, transience, and the sacred bond between human and Nature.
