“Syksy,” released at the end of 2021, is my third abstract project. I took the shots for “Syksy,” which means autumn in Finnish, in Finland, mainly in Lapland, where the fall season reveals some of the most breathtaking natural spectacles on Earth.
From the renowned Finnish “ruska,” with its captivating light and color contrasts, to the awe-inspiring grandeur of the auroras, this project captures the spirit of this ephemeral season.

METSÄ (STUDIO 6) one of the artworks from the Syksy series, exemplifies the essence of this work. This abstract impressionist piece, created entirely en plein air, transforms the forest into a visual symphony of blurred vertical lines and subtle, painterly textures.
The trees, reduced to ethereal streaks of earthy browns, muted greens, and soft greys, evoke a dreamlike atmosphere. The foreground dissolves into a golden haze, reminiscent of autumn grasses, while the interplay of light and shadow introduces a sense of movement and fluidity.

With “Syksy,” I wanted to convey my cry of pain for the violated Nature, paradoxically captured in one of Europe’s last pristine regions. My photography transcends traditional minimalism, rejecting figurative realism in favor of a deeply subjective abstraction.
Through the dynamic interaction of light and color, I reinterpreted the natural world, offering a surreal and geometric vision that mirrors the fragility of our environment.

“Metsä (studio 6)” is not just a photograph to me—it is an emotional and visual dialogue between myself and Nature, a fleeting moment transformed into an enduring abstraction.
