The painting I made, entitled "Mercury", seems to evoke strong ties with the aesthetics and symbolism of the planet Mercury, both astrologically and astronomically. The work is constructed through materials and textures that recall the raw and fascinating aspect of a celestial body.
The central sphere: Probably represents Mercury itself, with the surface that seems to reflect a rough and shiny texture, perhaps indicating the rocky and metallic landscape of the planet.
The use of materials with tactile qualities invites the viewer not only to see, but also to perceive the sensation of this distant and hostile world. The contrast between the smooth and shiny disk (the sphere) and the rough or draped texture suggests a reflection on the internal dynamics of the planet and its symbolic meaning in the human imagination.
