In my dreams, subconscious images emerge repeatedly, revolving around a common axis, the oppression of female sexuality. These images, whose meaning was initially hidden from me, were often interpreted through the process of psychoanalysis and took their place as personal symbols in my visual vocabulary. For example, after 15 years of painting sharks, I discovered during a session that the shark is the father, "the law", an authority which forbids the expression of sexual desire. Cherries, on the other hand, which appear often in my artwork, are the desire itself, an object also included in other personal stories.
In the artwork "menstrual danger", the dress is my body. It carries the cherries and bleeding egg cells. At the same time, the shark and the scorpions lurk, attracted by blood, and are so deeply rooted in my subconscious, that they become part of my body-dress.
