Me and My Monkey is the visualization of insomnia. The distant blank withered figure represents the sleeper. While the figure in the foreground represents insomnia (The Monkey). The distant figure is useless, fatigued, passive towards the monkey but still acts as an antenna to feed the monkey with unwanted thoughts. The Monkey appears erratic, manic. Both exhausted and exhilarated by the flow of ideas. At once holding its hands against its ears trying not to listen but can't help but indulge and delight in the unwelcome thoughts. Symbolizing that insomnia is a learnt reaction of defence but ends in being detrimental to the sleeper.
