" Mélusine " is an unusual, offbeat sculpture from the Ostréïdes series, made from the natural wood of a plant root. Half-human, half-extraterrestrial, it reveals the shyness of a different being with a curious view of the world around her.

This series expresses the complexity of life in its search for a form best suited to survival, as well as the wisdom of the mind applied to the transformation of matter.

The root wood was stripped of its brown bark, then carved with a gouge and sanded. The face was modelled in surfaced wood pulp, then lightly tinted with acrylic before being varnished.

Dimensions with homemade wooden base: H24 x W12 cm x D12 cm.
