The skies had cleared, little wind and a mild afternoon forecast so gathered my painting kit and jumped in the car to Medway Valley favourite spot ion the hillside as little time before sundown at 3.30pm - nearly the shortest day. The sky over Maidstone was black and the horizon a misty dark grey / brown. the sky was developing as the sun started down, with some red in the horizon and umbers in the clouds. Sometimes the sun would catch the fields; the river was tide out, but soon some water caught the light. This painting mostly brushwork with some palette knife tried to capture the light on the river. This painting is sold framed - mounted on white MDF with a beechwood frame
