Most years I manage to visit the South of France, sometimes en route to the mountains. It is so nice to create watercolours as 'aide-mémoires' of the trip.

The optimum is to paint in situ but if time does not permit, then I take photos and use them to make watercolours later in the day or evening. My memory undoubtedly embellishes them a little but I view that as permissible artistic licence which after all we all fall prey to when recalling the past, be it recent or distant.
