The Loire Valley of France is home to a number of impressive castles; I chanced upon this one while travelling from Paris to Auvergne and seized the opportunity to create this oil painting in traditional impressionist style, from outside its quadrangular castle walls, capturing the interplay of cool and warm light on the stone walls. It was originally built in the 13th century and rebuilt in the 15th.
It is painted on Italian made canvas attached to a wooden board.
Oil paints (Rembrandt, Old Holland, Winsor & Newton, Gamblin, lefranc & bourgeois)
