Māyā came unexpected. I've set the stage as I often do; clear horizon, dark sky and horizontal lines on the ground creating the feeling of depth and -through color gradient- certain mood. And I waited...
As I started to see and paint the figure inhabiting this landscape I soon realized I will be dealing with some sort of robust creature, apparently covered by cascading fur. But as soon as I settled on this and proceeded to find the best approach to rendering it the truth behind this illusion has shown in all it's magical beauty.
Māyā is a Sanskrit word. She's a weaver of illusion that covers the true nature of reality. Apparently sometimes her true face shows through illusion's fabric.
