Landscape of Auvergne, in the very heart of France.

This large canvas was painted in early May, as the first leaves were appearing and the meadows were starting to turn green. I was attracted by the colour harmony of pinks and greens interrupted only by splashes of bright colour from a few farms that dotted the landscape.

This landscape is a plein air painting, painted “alla prima” in one single sitting, with lively and spontaneous brushstrokes to attempt to capture the momentary effects of sunlight , the movement and the atmosphere.

Materials used:

This painting is painted with professional grade oil colors on a primed canvas. I prepare myself my canvases to create a texture specific to my painting needs and to insure them maximum longevity.
