I'd been re-reading 'The Yellow House' by Martin Gayford chronicling Vincent van Gogh and Gauguin's tempestuous months in Arles (thoroughly recommend this book), and was persuaded to follow some of Gauguin's instructions to Vincent concerning symbolism and working imaginatively (which wasn't Vincent's way!). Anyway, I decided to have a go myself. So, the sweetpeas were done from life but I took liberties with the surrounding areas. I think like Vincent, it's probably not me, though I'm not too displeased with the result.
Spectrum oil paint, knives, sticks, paste medium.
