This was a Plein Air painting done several year ago in the New Forest. It was painted in winter from high ground overlooking Matley Wood which is on a rise the other side of a forest bog or valley mire to give it the correct name. The New Forest is internationally famous for these Valley Mires. The frame is a traditional dull gold with dark green lines, which I think suits the subject of this painting.
