Mater Messis: in Latin means Mother of Harvest. By presenting a woman in symbiosis with nature, I want to emphasize the irreplaceable role of both in the further existence of mankind. While painting this picture, I thought about the present difficult situation of women in my country, Poland. Restricting women by a system of laws and prohibitions that bind them to decide about their own bodies, faiths and social and family position, I compare to the degradation of the natural environment on the Earth. With this painting I pay homage to both; the Woman and Nature, as the Sources of Life. Beauty and the need of both are the Mother of Birth of our existence. Especially my thanks go to very beautiful French model Karen Jgy , who let me use her image, and the French photographer Frederic Egli, the author of the Karen portrait, which became the inspiration for creating the image.
