Working in Londonderry on a wet weekend in July - yes, this was really the weather - I'd finished by lunchtime but my flight home was the next morning so set out for a drive. Even on a dull and overcast day the Northern Ireland coast is stunning.
On a very remote part of the Lough Foyle shoreline, Magilligan Point, I happened upon this Martello Tower - a fortification to protect the entrance to the lough. Built in the Napoleonic Wars of the early 1800s, this tower is actually three storeys high but set into the dunes and housed 12 troops and their commanding officer.
As with all my images of this size, this is dry mounted on a backing board to avoid wrinkling in future. A double mount inside a black wooden frame sets this image off beautifully.
THIS IN-STOCK IMAGE IS READY FOR IMMEDIATE DESPATCH. IT IS NUMBER 1 OF A LIMITED EDITION OF15.
Alternative sizes, print methods and substrates are available. Please contact me through Artfinder to discuss your preferences or possible options if you have a particular budget in mind.
Giclèe prints are reproduced to order by my specialist art publisher who guarantees the inks will not fade for at least 70 years, then professionally mounted into a modern contemporary wooden recessed box frame by the framers I have used for twenty years .
Consequently, preparation of your special order artwork can take up to 14 days before despatch.
Digital Print on glossy photographic paper, non-acidic mount and wooden frame
