This is a busy market place in most African countries. While painting, Kwesi Bennett's interest was not in capturing details, but rather in the movement of the crowd, the mood of the crowd, the individual posture and the variety of colours and textures. Looking at these busy markets, he says " i see very interesting colours on each individual which is amazing. The market grounds is a meeting place for most people to do business. Market women meet on a daily basis to do business, make friends, sometimes fight amongst themselves and also gossip.
