"I like to reimagine medieval or classical portraiture using contemporary application of oil paint to depict faded unfocused subjects. In my portraiture series I take historical paintings and try to give them a new, more contemporary feel, and also a sense of mystery and complexity. This portrait is inspired by Anthony Van Dyck."
