Original artwork description:

I came across this some years ago in the suburbs of New Orleans; the crocodile head stands at the entrance to a huge warehouse full of old Mardi Gras floats called Mardi Gras World. I hope of course that it is still there as I believe this area suffered badly when hurricane Katrina hit. The area is full of interesting buildings, many of which are Shotgun Shacks which may be the subject for a future painting. I painted it with a complementary colour scheme of yellow/violet, trying to lose the crocodile head tonally within the dark area of the picture so that you don't immediately spot the anomalous head.

Materials used:

Oil on canvas
