In early 2015 I devoted an entire series painting portraits of American Apparel models. The series was for a solo exhibition in Indianapolis, IN at Gallery 924. "Marco in Blue" was a painting that looked very different just before my last session with it. I didn't like where it was going and had decided to give it one last attempt of fixing it before painting over it completely. Having nothing much to lose, I began furiously attacking the canvas with a putty knife with blues into the face and around the subject. The result became one of my favorite personal paintings.
