Imagine the clarity of colors and the winds at 4500 feet. The Blue Ridge Mountains become rocky and striped with minerals and stone. As the fall progresses, the maples this year have given a show above and beyond previous years. And the sky - the winterish, blue, turbulent sky - sets off the autumnal colors like nothing else. This painting was built in layers of oil and is infused with copper, giving a such a luminosity and richness. This is abstraction melding into realism and real life.
