One of the oldest pie & mash shops in London, this branch of Manze's in Peckham, South-East London opened in 1927 and is still run by the original family. It is famous for its pies, mashed potato and liquor, as well as jellied or stewed eels ( a traditional London dish). Walking inside feels like stepping back in time.
I made this painting of the facade of the shop using watercolour, small areas of image transfer and gesso, and then rubbed down and sanded the surface to give a distressed, urban feel.
Although sold unframed, a simple white frame can be supplied at cost price - please enquire if interested.
