This painting was created from a sketch of a man I saw sitting in a café in Polis, Cyprus in 2013.
The painting has been created using three layers of colour with Flake White between each layer to create this image of the man. Each layer was rubbed back to the previous layer, revealing elements from colour layer, adding to the aesthetic of an eroded and worn image.
The painting responds to the many images I saw in Cyprus at the museums and churches, revealing the aging process of images and their entropic state from the many years on the walls of these ancient buildings.
The painting is framed using old pallets I found around Lemba and stained using powdered Serpentinite (handmade) and Olive Oil.
