Malham Cove is one of the most iconic landscape features of the Yorkshire Dales. A huge limestone amphitheatre, carved by glacial floodwater, it looms over the village of Malham. Originally a huge waterfall flowed from the top and the cove once stood 500m to the south but erosion from that waterfall created the location where we find it today.
It is always a challenge to capture the enormity of the feature. here it is shown in early spring, with a straking light causing deep shadows and glaring highlights.
