Original artwork description:

Study after an unknown artist from the School of the Master of the Virgo inter Virgines and Cornelius Engelbrechstein (1490s), Toulouse, Musée des Augustins. The painter of the original oil painting has delighted in the subtleties of effect possible with the new medium: the transparent veil over her forehead, the rendering of the wetness around the eyes, and of course the single tear, the real subject of the painting, (and my drawing) which trickles down her cheek.

Materials used:

Pencil on Canson Paper
